Haramaya University Takes Over Hiywat Fana Hospital

The Haromaya University, a state-owned higher learning institution, received on Thursday the Hiywot Fana Hospital found in Harar Town. To use it for teaching its students of medicine practical lesson.

The University received the hospital from the Harari State Health Bureau which was administering the hospital previously at a ceremony held at the assembly hall of the State Council in the presence of Harari State Administration Chief, Murad Abdullahi.

Speaking on the occasion, Murad said the hospital was given to the university with an intention of supporting the effort well underway in the country to produce adequate number of health professionals.

According to Murad, the hospital will also serve as referral health institution for the Harari state and areas neighboring the state.

Students’ Affairs Deputy President with the university, Dr.Belayneh Legesse, received the key to the hospital from the State Heath Bureau Head, Dr. Abdurahman Ismael .

Speaking on his part, Dr. Belayneh said giving the hospital to the University would have a significant importance in the furtherance of health science.

The hospital will be used as a center for undertaking researches and training and medical center, among others.
